HOUSEHOLD & OFFICE REMOVALS
We at Express Removals aim to help alleviate the stress of moving by providing a quality, efficient service to suit your needs. Compared to a bakkie or trailer, we save you a lot of time, organization and energy. The total time to move your goods is thus drastically reduced giving you quality time to put things away and settle into your new premises quickly and with minimal effort.

Our Staff
- We are committed to service excellence.

Our Vehicles
- We have seven trucks in our fleet. Two 2-tonnes, four 4-tonnes and a hoist truck for heavier items such as pianos, kilns, safes, etc.
- Satellite tracking and CCTV are installed in our lead vehicles for security and peace of mind.
- Vehicles are solid-sided and fully enclosed, providing protection from bad weather and theft.
- Our 4-tonne trucks carry the contents of a 2 to 3 bedroom home.
- Trolleys are carried on our trucks to assist with heavier items, as well as reducing the time taken to load and offload.
- Blankets are carried on all vehicles to protect your possessions.
Additional Services
- Dismantling/Assembly of Furniture
We can dismantle and re-assemble your furniture, if required, for a small additional fee (e.g. doors, banisters, gates, large items of furniture, etc).
- Office Moves
In addition to moving your goods, this service can be tailored to include packing, protecting and dismantling of office furniture and equipment, as well as unpacking and reassembly at your new premises.
- Hoisting
We hoist up to 2 meters only. For higher than this, please notify us and we can arrange this for you.
- House Cleaning Service
Please notify us if you require this service so we can arrange.
STORAGE
- Express Removals has three warehouses in its portfolio. All three are situated in Montague Gardens, Milnerton, and fulfill both our in-house as well as our clients’ household insurance requirements with:
- Alarm system linked to Chubb armed response;
- 24 hour CCTV surveillance; and
- 24 hour access security.
- We provide the following in-house insurance:
- Fire / Flood; and
- Burglary
- Our standard single units are 4.1m x 1.9m x 2.4m, giving a volume of 18.6m³ (or 657ft³). These units typically hold the contents of a 2 bedroom home. Clients with greater capacity requirements can be accommodated either with double or triple units.
- Access to storage is during our office hours (Monday – Friday , 8am – 5pm).
- Express Removals also offers assistance at a small fee to clients with accessing/rearranging goods in their units, as required.
- Items brought into storage by Express Removals are numbered and photographed, providing an accurate inventory of our clients’ goods.
- Storage is on a month-to-month basis with only 2 weeks’ notice required to vacate.
- Long-term clients are offered 12 months’ storage for the price of 11, if paid up front.*
- No deposit is required!
LONG-DISTANCE REMOVALS
- We move clients nationally with trucks leaving weekly. As we are based in Cape Town, we only deal with moves either from or to the Mother City.
- Long-distance quotes ordinarily take 2 to 3 working days to generate from the date of the receipt of your request.
- Clients are asked to provide a full inventory list of goods to be transported as quotes are calculated for long-distance moves based on cubic measurements. These need to be precise in order that the correct amount can be quoted and to ensure that goods are allocated to an appropriate truck.
- With our long-distance moves, delivery dates and times are less fixed so clients are advised to be flexible when it comes to receiving their goods.
- We offer stock-in-transit insurance cover on long-distance moves, as with local moves, and this is at 1.5% of the value of the goods being transported.

PACKAGING SUPPLIES
- We offer a range of materials at reasonable prices to meet our clients’
packaging needs.
- Clients are offered 10 FREE boxes on acceptance of a move which can
be collected from our office.
- Boxes - 36cm H x 43cm W x 36cm D (Small)
- Boxes - 42cm H x 46cm W x 38cm D (Large)
- Boxes - 31cm H x 45cm W x 30cm D (Book Box)
- Our small and large boxes are for general use whereas book boxes are
specialised for heavier items such as books, CDs/DVDs and small electronic
equipment.
- Bubble Wrap (10M x 1.2M)
- We advise clients to bubble wrap their bulkier items in order to protect
them from scratches and dust. Bubble wrap can also be used for protecting
smaller, more delicate items to be stored in boxes.
- Cushion Kraft Bubble Wrap (Single Sided - 10M x 1.2M)
- Cushion Kraft is a more rigid form of bubble wrap as it has a layer
of kraft paper on one side. We recommend this product for protecting larger
and more fragile items such as: TV's; mirrors; large appliances; furniture
with glass fittings; and any other items requiring additional protection
to minimise the risk of dings or scratches.
- Clear Tape (100M)
- Clear tape is stronger than brown tape and is better because it does
not mark items. It is used for building and sealing boxes, as well as
taping closed bubble wrapped items and couch/mattress covers.
- Tissue Paper (50 sheets)
- Tissue paper is mostly used for protecting crockery and glass. Although
more expensive than newspaper, the advantage of tissue paper is that it
does not leave ink marks on your hands or items and comes pre-cut (600mm
x 400mm) in rolls of 50 sheets.
- Couch / Mattress Covers (3M)
- These are thick plastic tubes which are 3 meters in length and are used
to protect soft furnishings such as mattresses and couches from dust and
dirt. Each tube can cover either: (1 x double/queen bed mattress); (2
x single bed mattresses); (1 x standard 2 or 3-seater couch); OR (2 x
standard single couches).

- Packing can be the most tedious, time-consuming task of a home move. Consider using Express Removals’ professional packing service as we will accomplish in only a few hours what could take a lot more time and energy to do on your own.

- Our packing service is charged for by the packaging materials used, boxes packed and items disassembled, not by the hour.
- We know how important it is to you that your goods arrive at your new home safely and without damage. Our packers are trained in packing methods to minimize damage during transit.
- Our packing service is carried out before the day of your move to ensure that all items are dismantled, packed and protected prior to collection.
- Express Removals also provides an unpacking and reassembly service once you reach your new home. (As we are based in Cape Town, this service can only be provided for households within the Mother City.)
- At Express Removals, we use our own staff to carry out your packing service and do not broker the work out to other companies, as many removal companies do. This means that we are in control of the quality of service provided to you at all times.

- Please note that we provide an estimate as to the cost of our packing service as the actual amount can only be finalized on the day once the exact amount of packaging materials used has been established. This is written up by our packing supervisor and agreed with and signed for by the client on completion, allowing an accurate invoice to be produced eliminating nasty surprises.
